Amber's Home Tour: Office

Spring has arrived and the sunshine vibes are giving me the decorating bug! I don't know about you, but this time of year always puts me in the mood to freshen up the house. I recently spent some time cleaning our home office and adding a few new pieces to the space.

When we bought our home we had a list of our top must haves. Having a home office that felt inviting, professional and a natural extension of our home was very important. My husband and I both work from home a lot so this space is used on a daily basis, but it is also the first room off the main entry way of our home. This is the first thing our family and guests see when we welcome them in. It was important to us that this space reflect who we are and incorporate very personal pieces and collections.

When you first walk through the french doors and into the space, there are two large statement pieces. The desk and the shelving.

The desk was the find of the a century. I snagged this vintage solid walnut desk in a consignment shop for $80. It's actually a piece made by one of the original furniture companies in West Michigan circa 1970s. I knew when I found this piece that I had hit the furniture jackpot. My husband, Brian spent countless hours oiling it down to restore it's true glory. It's a piece that will be with us for years to come.

The shelving is a WayFair find and one that truly makes the space. See similar here

When I'm designing a space it's important to me to use personal pieces. In our office, you can find my father-in-laws original collection of the Hardy Boys books (passed down to Brain), an old globe, gifts from when my sister traveled to Japan, a favorite quote hand lettered by a dear friend (Mere from Tiny Bits of Happiness), books and photographs. All these things are super special to us and having them in this space is a great reminder of what hard work can accomplish.

And a bar....

This is a common occurrence in our house! LOL

Artwork is always a must! The collection is very minimal in the office, but includes hand sketched drawings of Puerto Rico given to us by family. Also one of our favorite vacation destinations.

The details always make the design. This space continues to serve us in the most practical way while creating a home with memories. A space should always make you smile.

We currently have lots of great styling pieces in the shop! We always love assisting on a home design project. Pop in soon and grab a few things to spruce up your home for spring.

Thanks for stopping by the blog. Hopefully you'll leave feeling inspired.

XOXO

Amber
