Weekly Moisturizing Beauty Routine

January  14, 2015

Today I’m sharing my weekly beauty routine that will help you kick the cold dry weather and keep your face, body and hair moisturized all winter long.

1. Oil of Olay

The best product I can recommend for any woman’s daily facial routine is Oil of Olay (original formula). I’ve been using this facial moisturizer since I was 13 and every time I stray I always find my way back. People spend tons of money on fancy name brand moisturizers when this $9.00 moisturizer does all that and more. I even have my husband using it!

Usage:  Apply to a clean face every morning and before bed

2. Elf Face Primer

For those of you who have not discovered the Elf makeup line (found at Target), you are really missing out! This cost effective brand has some fabulous products including my absolute favorite primer.  This primer goes on silky smooth, keeps your face moisturized, and makes your makeup flawless and long lasting. This product is a whopping $4

Usage: Apply after Oil of Olay prior to applying your makeup.

3, Mary Kay Botanical Effects Face Mask

First let me start by saying I am not a Mary Kay rep nor am I related to one. I’m honestly just in love with this product! I discovered this mask through a Mary Kay party I was invited to. I’m usually not one to purchase product at these types of functions unless it’s something I can’t live without it. This mask is a purchase you won’t regret making.  Your face will never feel this soft. This product is also very affordable at $14.

Usage: Apply once a week (I usually do on a Sunday) This mask goes a long way so be sure not to squeeze a lot out. The back of the bottle says to let set for at least 10 minutes, but I leave it on for 30. Rinse with warm water.

4, Nutiva Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is amazing for your hair. Not only is it the perfect addition to your beauty routine, you can also use it in the kitchen just like you would olive oil!

Usage: Massage oil through hair root to tip. Put your hair in a loose bun on the top of your head. Cover your head with a shower cap and sleep on it. Make sure to put a towel over your pillow to avoid any greasy stains.  Do this once a week.

5. Boots Mediterranean Mint & Melon Scrub

I LOVE this stuff! I’ve been using this scrub for years and it really does the trick. You can find it at Target for $8. It really tackles dry skin. Just a helpful tip…you might want to invest in some Draino if you are going to use this regularly. The oil from the scrub tends to back up the drain in our house. It really ticks off the hubby, but this stuff is so good I just can’t part with it.

Usage: Apply every other day all over skin during your shower. Rinse and be sure to apply your daily body moisturizer after.

6. H2O

Water is your number one combatant in dry skin. In order to stay moisturized, you have to hydrate from the inside out. I can’t stress this enough! If you are serious about having beautiful moisturized skin, this is a must.

Usage: I drink 64oz of water everyday.  In order to meet my quota here’s what I do

Morning: 8oz of hot water with a slice of lemon

This is great for your immune system and also helps your complexion

Noonish: 8oz of hot green tea

Afternoon until an hour before bed:  48oz of water. You can jazz it up by infusing with fresh fruit. Don’t add the artificial water flavoring!

After Dinner: 8oz of hot chamomile tea

The best way to accomplish this daily goal is to purchase a water bottle that holds 64oz and carry it with you during your daily routine. It’s a constant reminder of what you need to drink. Make your teas and hot water using the water from the water bottle. Here is my favorite bottle by Cool Gear. Eventually you will find yourself drinking more than the required 64oz because your body will crave it.

Hope you find my weekly moisturizing beauty routine helpful!  What tips do you have?
